Looking Back To My Childhood

I met my friends from elementary school on Monday, for the first time in 13 years. That's actually crazy if you come to think about it, cause it technically means all the kids that are in middle school right now don't know the time when I was playing house with them. Wow. I'm so ancient.

Well, it was very nice to see them because one of them was my real 'best friend of life'. We had lots of memories together, either good or bad, making terrible chapter books (I'm not going to talk about it for now lol), liking the same boy, etc. Even though I left that school when I was 8 to go to a private school, she never forgot about me, we kept in touch, and she came all the way to the airport with her dad to see me off. Really, a great friend.

So we were talking about how everyone's life was after me leaving that school and Toronto. Since it was the kind of public school that everyone around the area all goes to, most of the people in the story after I left were people I knew very well, which was pretty cool. Most of them still live in their same old house that I know, and they still hang out together when they have time. For me, this was an odd but at the same time an awesome thing to hear cause it means all my friends from that school has been around together for like 15 years, growing older together, which never happened to me, and could've happened if I kept on going to that school together. I missed out a lot of stuff.

My friends took me to this Milestones for dinner, which was the place most of my friends worked as a part-time job, and afterwards they took me to a bar nearby where everyone usually hangs out. I was like, 'yeah, if I were with you guys after Gr.2 this is the life I would've gone through' for the whole time in my mind. Cause that's true, and that made me feel weird.

Fate is a really strange thing. If I had chosen a different option at each dividing points, my life would've never been the same. If I didn't change schools in Canada, I probably wouldn't have gone back to Japan, meaning I wouldn't have met most of the friends I have right now, and obviously meaning that I wouldn't have come to the University of Toronto as an exchange student like I'm doing at the moment.

And that made me think that schools are very important components of our lives. It all depends on which school you go to; the environment, the friends, the way you think, and your life. I heard that some of my old friends got caught by the police for doing naughty stuff (I'll just say that lol). Some of them are going through body modification, and some of them have huge tattoos on their arms (probably not that of a big deal over here but in Japan - it IS a big deal). I personally don't mind these at all, I won't judge them just because of this one aspect of them, especially because I know them since we were very small and we used to be very close. But it's something really interesting to think about cause I know no one like that in the all-girls private schools I went to afterwards, with friends that were, in a way, living in a 180 degrees different environment compared to them.

Either way it turned out to be, I don't regret the choices that I've made in the past. Since I experienced different types of schools and environments, I think I have a huge variety of friends. And that makes me  capable to kind of understand how others feel in a certain situation, and what kind of people are out there - and I feel like these are all great advantages to me, since not everyone can have friends or experiences like me.

I feel like I can use my experiences for someone or something after I graduate from university and dive into the vast society... I don't know yet, but if the chance comes I'm willing to share it with lots of people. And I have to say that I am very happy to have the coolest and wildest friends in the world, thanks so much you guys, you all mean A LOT to me!!

Gotta go to dinner now!
Talk to you later.

The Sky

Today turned out to be a beautiful day outside, way different from yesterday.

I love clear skies, especially the transparent blue sky with a bit of white clouds floating around. It's refreshing, but the real problem is that it doesn't just make me happy, but it also gives me this empty feeling. Cause the sky never stays the same, right? The sky you're seeing now would never be there for you anymore, NEVER. That's why I feel like I need to lock up every beautiful sky I'm seeing into my heart so that it's a part of me and I won't have to miss it. And that's what makes me want to open my mouth towards the sky, to absorb that fresh and lovely moment into myself (I know it's weird).

I forgot which movie it was, but I remember this great phrase - "I don't like taking pictures, I keep good memories in my heart. And it works, because those memories never fade away." This kind of solved my 'feeling empty when I see beautiful sky' issue. Now I know that I would never forget the feeling I get from the skies, and the memories that come with it.

Clear blue sky isn't the only kind of sky I like. I also enjoy the evening sky with the setting sun, and the dimness that comes after.

(Niagara On the Lake)

I guess 5:30pm to 6:30pm is the best time of the day during winter. When it starts to get gloomy outside, I keep the lights off in my room and lie on my bed, and stare into the ceiling and listen to melancholy music like The XX and enforce myself to get depressed (since I'm NEVER depressed naturally) or listen to epic music like the soundtrack from 'The Last Samurai' and feel emotional. It makes me relax and it's surely a very important time for me to rest physically and mentally.
I know it's kinda weird but I'm pretty sure that some people would understand. Or maybe it's something related to me liking the feelings of nostalgia...

Anyways, don't freak out when you find me opening my mouth towards the sky or me lying on the bed staring into the ceiling with no lights. It's just me enjoying the time and adjusting to my inner self.

Cause that's how I do.

Will you be my 2460-ONE?

So, Happy Valentine's Day everyone (aka S.A.D - singles awareness day :/)!!
Aaaand that also means that it's February 14th and I haven't updated my blog for nearly... 5 months!
Hahaha, I knew this would happen. I can never NEVER do stuff continuously, it just isn't my thing.

Btw, I feel like writing in English so yeah.

Ok, so the weather - it is literally freezing cold out here. Still, today's like 2℃ so it's actually a fine day, but I know it would be a pretty chilly day if it were in Tokyo.
Around 3 weeks ago the temperature went down as far as -20℃, and last Friday we had a snow storm in Toronto. Since I wear leggings and not jeans for the whole time, my thighs gets sore from the cold if I walk outside for more than 15 minutes. My face, since it never gets covered (unless I wear those thief-style woolen hat) it feels like I'm getting frostbite all over.Yep, I'm enjoying the northland life for sure.

The snow is beautiful - it's not like the disgusting gushy ones that make the air really humid as it is in Tokyo. Instead, it's very dry, light, and fluffy.

(On the right is the day of the snowstorm. The quad's deeply covered with snow and literally nowhere to walk without getting your shoes full of white fluffiness)

The day after the storm was BEAUTIFUL.

Oh right, you see that lady standing in the snow? Well she's this tough person that always brings her yoga mattress and spreads it in the quad (on the snow) every morning and evening. I wonder if there's any merits on doing yoga right in the middle of a snow field. Really.

Well whatever, hopefully I'll have an awesome Valentine's Day (aka S.A.D day), and hopefully I'll catch up soon again cause the 10-day reading week just started for me!

Adios!!
